(Cherry Hill, N.J.) – Mayor Chuck Cahn looked ahead to 2017 with optimism at Monday evening’s Council Reorganization, citing in remarks to Council and residents a renewed focus on Cherry Hill’s neighborhoods, safety, roads and quality of life as priorities for the administration in the coming year.

“The ties that bind our community together are the things that we all value, both as elected officials and as residents: Preserving the integrity of neighborhoods; investing in public safety, roads, recreation and open space; enhancing our schools; maintaining high-level municipal services; diversity in our tax base that will help us to hold the line on municipal taxes and ensure our long-term financial stability. These are the things that make Cherry Hill such an ideal community to call home, and they will continue to be our priorities in 2017, and beyond.”

In other business, Council members David Fleisher and Sara Lipsett were chosen to serve another year as Council President and Vice President, respectively.

Council President Fleisher echoed the Mayor’s optimism.

“The year ahead presents a chance to recommit ourselves to strengthening our neighborhoods, and to the continued support of initiatives that protect the quality of life for our residents, while running Town Hall as efficiently as possible. I look forward to working hand-in-hand with Mayor Cahn, my colleagues on Council, and the residents of Cherry Hill to continue to move our community forward.”

Council President Fleisher was first elected to the governing body in 1997. He currently resides in Siena with his wife, Jennifer, and their three children. Lipsett, who lives in Downs Farm with her husband, Jack, and two daughters, was elected to her third Council term in 2014.
