Township offers special yard-waste collection, food disposal after storm

In light of the significant clean-up efforts across town following Tuesday’s storm, Mayor Chuck Cahn and the Department of Public Works have announced special expanded services to help residents dispose of branches and storm-related yard waste and spoiled food ahead of their next scheduled trash collection.

Yard Waste:From Saturday, June 27, to Friday, July 10, residents can call Public Works at (856) 424-4422 to register for a special storm-related yard-waste collection. During this two-week period, normal weight and bundling restrictions will be relaxed and Township personnel will collect any yard debris that residents can move to the curb. Residents must call Public Works directly to register for this program. Please note: We cannot accommodate requests to remove trees or large limbs from private property. We will only collect debris that has been placed at the curb.

Food Waste: As an additional service to residents experiencing prolonged power outages, a dumpster will be located in the cul-de-sac outside the Public Works yard (1 Perina Blvd.) for disposal of spoiled food and other waste ahead of residents’ normal trash collection. The dumpster will be accessible 24 hours a day from Friday, June 26, until Thursday, July 3. You do not need to register to use the dumpster.

“Cherry Hill was hit hard by Tuesday’s storm, and our community faces a significant amount of clean-up in the coming days,” Mayor Cahn said. “My hope is that these expanded services will ease this process for residents, and allow life to return to normal as quickly as possible.”

Residents with questions or concerns can contact Public Works at (856) 424-4422, or the Mayor’s Office at (856) 488-7878. You may also Report a Concern directly through the Township’s website.
