Training

The Tactical Response Team trains constantly throughout the year both as a single unit and in conjunction with other specialty units within the department such as our K-9 Unit, Critical Incident Negotiations Team (CINT) as well as other law enforcement agencies. The team trains in a multitude of specialized police tactics to include reconnaissance, perimeter training, shield deployment, commercial/high-rise building assaults, rapid deployment and vehicle assaults. Members of the Tactical Response Team are required to qualify with their firearms more frequently than those tasked with the regular patrol function. Members of the Tactical Response Team are also responsible for instruction at both the police department and county level.

Incidents Subject to a TRT Response

Critical incidents are more and more prevalent as we can see through the media and through news sources/outlets. Critical incidents need to be met with the level of training, education, discipline, and experience that members of an elite unit such as TRT can provide in order to reach a safe resolution. Some of the types of incidents TRT could be deployed for shall resemble the following:

-Barricaded Person

-Hostage Incident

-High Risk Search/ Arrest Warrants

-Sniper Situations

-Out Of County/Multi-Agency Aid
